South - TX Gulf Coast (Galveston to CRP)

I'm planning on taking a leisurely drive from Galveston to Corpus Christi soon (winter). Are there any noteworthy restaurants in the area? Any towns worth stopping and exploring? I'm assuming that this stretch of Gulf Coast is pretty quiet in the middle of winter.
