Hi FTers in or familiar with this area of Oz,
Just wondering if those of you who have spent weekends at Terrigal or nearby central coast beachside areas have any favourites (or stories great or ghastly) of weekenders, holiday flats, resorts or hotels?

Is the ANZ eDine / Entertainment book for the 50% off rack rate / 10% off offer worthwhile this time of year? If this doesn't pan out maybe I can try Lis's Hilton Diamond Club coucher at a MEL Hilton-family hotel and fly with OzJet

Any comments on these hotels, from the eDine website? Thank you so much. I'd be trying to book for NEXT W/E!
Cheers BiziBB / Ben

Dude, the central coast really is a hole. Not much to recommend it at all. Spend another hour in the car and hit the Hunter Valley if you're after a filthy weekend away.

Or even a clean one.

Thoroughly recommend Tallawanta Lodge:

Which has the best Italian restaurant in Australia attached to it.

IMHO I'd bag plans for the Central Coast and shorten your journey to go to Palm Beach instead. Consider spending the weekend at Jonah’s... It's a bit steep, but worth it.

Contrary to popular belief the Central Coast has a lot to offer and I should know...I live there :)

Now I am all for the Hunter Valley, but if you are looking for beaches..you are not going to find them there. And Palm Beach is nice, but you can visit it via a twenty minute ferry ride from Ettalong Beach on the Central Coast.

I would probably stay away from Toukley and The Entrance..too many ferals :) and the Murramarang resort is actually on the south coast..not central coast.

You may want to look at Kims, on the beach at Toowoon Bay. It is pricey but it is secluded and includes all meals, which are wonderful.

You may also want to check out the new Outrigger resort at Ettalong. Ettalong Beach, doesn't have a lot going for it in the way of night life but it does have some great restaurants and fabulous waterways.

...and this is from someone from Newcastle?..the soot capital of Australia. I'm sure you will excuse me if I don't take your mocking of the Central Coast seriously. After all, people who live in glass shacks shouldn't throw lumps of coal.

I think I hear the steelworks calling you ;)

Soot = industry = employment = lack of povo bogan mullet-sporting flanno-wearing scum.

I see your Steelworks jibe, and raise you "San Remo".

I class anything north of Gosford as Newcastle, so San Remo is all yours, along with Wyong, Toukley etc. take them and enjoy. :p

So THAT'S where Cairns is :p

BiziBB, I'd personally be heading to Peppers (http://www.peppers.com.au/ViewPage.action?siteNodeId=24&language=1&contentId=-1&property=637) for a few days.
