Hi folks. Relative newbie here, and I'm scouting out seats from MCO-HNL. This is for united airlines, but is generic enough to be applied to other airlines.
Which person has the best chance of getting bumped to first class on a economy V fare? Somebody with an upgrade cert, or a premier member? The upgrade cert says it will bump V fares, and that customer's can get CONFIRMED seats 24 hours in advance versus what the premier offers.

I'm not sure I understand the question(s), but whatever it/they are, it/they relate exclusively to UA and do not belong here.
And if you're asking for advice on an EBay auction, you're definitely in the wrong place.

Maybe you can understand it better now. The question is the following:
For an upgrade from coach to business class, will you have a better chance for success with an upgrade cert (available on ebay), or with your premier frequent flyer status.

The upgrade certificate is confirmable at time of ticketing if seats are available. A status upgrade is not.

Just to be clear, the upgrade certificate UpgradeMe is referring to a Confirmed Regional Upgrade (CR-1).
The "Time Verified Updgrade" about which the OP is asking appears to clear at 24 hours for non-full-fares. 500-milers for 2P's ("status upgrade") clear at 48 hours. I'd say the 2P with 500-milers would get the upgrade first.

Public "White envelope" auctions run the risk of losing the cert, miles and/or MP membership.
