I'd like to hear of others, too. In particular, has anyone received links to new casino rates? You can check out the Starwood Special Offers page for the Aladdin (http://specialoffers.starwoodhotels.com/aladdin_resort_and_casino/so.aqf?EM=SPG_HP_prim_SOP_SI_1514_SoCal). It has a couple offers with dates into Jan. I've not booked my Jan schedule in Vegas yet, and I don't know when these rates actually produce results. I've not seen much luck with them yet. However, also try the regular AAA rate by selecting Automobile Association from the Special Rate Plan option. When the regular AAA rates are available, I'm mostly seeing $109. That's a little higher than I'm usually willing/able to pay, but rates are looking a little higher across the board for most of Jan in Vegas. Deluxe Accommodations for just $89/night on these special dates: November 21, 22, 27-30 December 4 ,8, 11-15, 18-22, & 26 January 1-3, 8-12, 22-25 AAA members special rates that are too good to pass up! Now through January 25, 2006 stay for just $89 (Sunday to Thursday) or $179 (Friday and Saturday). Offer also includes $10.00 in free play for $20.00 coin in (one time limited offer) per room per stay, free self parking with in/out privileges, and coupons for Aladdin Casino and Desert Passage Shopping. It's frightening that the best standard rate of $169 at the Aladdin is the same as the Bellagio's on Jan 29. The AAA rate of $109 is available on this date, though. For reference, here are the lowest standard prices from AladdinCasino.com as of 11/30/2005. Remember that these can differ from what you see on Starwood's reservations pages. In fact, Starwood's pages might not even show availability for some nights. For example, $241 per night during the big conventions in early Jan. Since there are restrictions on their rates, I doubt you'd have much luck getting a SPG rate guarantee on it. cwc Dec 1, 05, 3:24 pm Do you get starwood point booking through PrecisionReservations.com ?? You could invoke Starwood's Best Rate guarantee and claim the 2000 extra points or a further 10% discount! This is the approach that I would take, but I would submit the claim in advance of booking anything nonrefundable on spg.com. I consider this to be the risky section of the BRG T&Cs: Rate Limitations The Best Rate Guarantee applies to a Competing Rate with rate limitations that are substantially similar to the rate limitations of the rate that can be booked on a Starwood-branded Website (the "Starwood Rate"). Rate limitations include, but are not limited to, advance purchase requirements, prepayment and deposit requirements, and cancellation and change policies. If there is no Starwood Rate available that has substantially similar rate rules to that of the Competing Rate, and the Competing Rate is lower than any available Starwood Rate, Starwood, in its sole discretion, may honor the Competing Rate with the applicable Starwood Rate Limitations, room type, and amenities plus a Best Rate Guarantee Reward, provided it meets all other Terms and Conditions. I've only tried to file a BRG claim once, and it was a frustrating experience. I booked a lesser room type with a higher rate for one of the Hawaii properties. (It was not the recently discussed Westin Maui.) A better room type with a lower rate was available from another website, but that same room type was not available at all on spg.com for those dates. The claim was denied because the room types weren't the same. While this followed the T&Cs, it doesn't make much sense to me. IIRC, they ended up giving me the lower rate, but denied me the additional 10% discount or 2000 points. That was about a year ago, and maybe they've improved this system. Looks as if the T&Cs have been tweaked since then. In regards to this particular site for the lower Aladdin rates, the rate has cancellation limitations that are not found on spg.com. For example, I think that you could cancel in advance, but a handling fee of something like $20 is retained. The BRG T&Cs allow for this type of exception, but the acceptance is in Starwood's "sole discretion." NWsilverflyer Jan 11, 06, 2:20 am Have seen lower rates for some dates. Aladdin has some "Springtime Earlybird Room Specials" (http://sdm3.com/viewmsg.cfm?n152s2980c14219463t2105e3350508) but they are for weekdays only for the most part. What is bizarre, though, is if you search for days including weekends they won't give you a higher, weekend rate, but instead will just say "sold." But if you go to aladdincasino.com and search, they aren't sold out, the rates are just higher. Also for the dates I was looking at, Jan 20-23, the $189 rate on Fri and Sat night just isn't competitive at all. Too bad, not sure where I'll book now. sc flier Jan 11, 06, 9:25 am Have seen lower rates for some dates. When it says SOLD while searching for a particular rate code through aladdincasino.com's reservations pages, it does not necessarily mean that the hotel is sold out of all rooms. It just means that it does not have any rooms available AT THAT RATE CODE for that night. You could try calling the hotel to inquire about booking a stay on the casino rate that includes the weekend, but I kind of doubt that you'll have much luck unless you're really a big gambler (and have some evidence of that fact) or a VIP. The Miss America Pageant is being hosted at the Aladdin that week and weekend, so the Aladdin is in particularly high demand. Considering that the pageant is there, $189 is probably a better price than I would have expected to see on that weekend. FWIW, spg.com is offering Fri & Sat for $179. AAA rate is only $149. I'm not sure what rate you are expecting around center Strip on a weekend, but I suspect that these are fairly competitive rates. MIKESILV Jan 11, 06, 9:27 am I cannot speak to weekend rates but I will be staying at the Alladdin today 1/11 and tomorrow at a rate of $59.00 booked on SPG.com Does prove great rates can be found at the SPG.com mike DenverBrian Jan 11, 06, 10:08 am SPG.com sometimes "hides" the best Aladdin rate at the bottom of the list of rates. If you only look at the first 6 rates presented and don't click "next" to see the next 6, you'll often miss the best available rate. Example: Jan. 28-29, where the $79 best available rate doesn't show up until the third screen (the 13th and 15th rates on the list). Last week I was looking to book the weekend of the 28th and SPG showed it sold out. Yesterday there were multiple options, including the $70-something rate I booked. I've seen this kind of drastic fluctuation multiple times. DenverBrian Jan 11, 06, 11:14 am It's only "hidden" if you don't click to sort the rates from low to high. ;) Ah, of course! Seriously, why not just default to a complete list sorted from low-to-high? Like, say, Marriott's website? LOL. I don't know. Seems to me like it should be low to high as the default rate, but I'm probably looking at it from your point of view instead of a revenue management point of view. ;) Sincerely, William R. For a few dates a $69 prepaid non cancelable rate is available. Anyone do better or have other promo codes? |
