Las Vegas - Vegas wedding reception ideas

Heading to Vegas this weekend to check out wedding and reception sites. Looks like the wedding will be Luxor. Reception is really stressing us out. Most places seem to be pretty high dollar and I just have a problem with $70 a head for pasta and chicken.
Actually going to check the Ellis Island banquet room. I like the food there, but, its pretty much a dive. However, I can afford to put on a prime rib dinner and open bar for the friends and family.
Any other ideas Vegas vet's????
Thanks. Mike.
You didn't indicate how many people will be attending ... that would help.
If it's less than 40 or so, how about a private or semi-private room at one of the nicer Buffets? (Wynn, Bellagio, etc.). The food will probably be better than the typical wedding fare, and you should be able to get away with less than $50 a head after tax, tip, and a drink or two.
I looked into this option at Bellagio (didn't do it though), and a manager indicated that all I needed to do was call ahead one day in advance with the headcount.
Good luck and congrats!
Edited to add: I went back an found a link to a previous discussion similar to this. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the buffet tip and the link. Looks like we will have about 50 people.
Planning to speak to the buffet manager at Luxor regarding the reception since this is where the wedding will be (I think). My concern was the private room and option of alcohol being served. If that can be met sounds like the buffet will be a great option. Having it all at one site is a benefit too. I can just see some relative getting lost!
Good thing is I have until October 2006!
Thanks again.
I would recommend Carluccio's Tivoli Garden's. It is at the corner of Tropicana and Spencer about 2 miles east of the strip.

They are very reasonably priced. Excellent Italian food. Their piano room holds 50. We had a family dinner there for about 20 that included ordering off the menu and drinks and I don't think the bill was much more than $500.00. My son has fundraiser dinners there and I think he gets a choice of a few dinners that include wine for $35.00 per person. Call them and talk to John if you're interested.
