Hi all,

I've booked 2 one bedroom rooms @ Centre Point Saladaeng for myself and a friend around New Year's, and just wondering if anyone on FT has any experience staying at this location? I'm very familiar with the area / location as I lived in BKK for several years, but this is a fairly new property and I haven't checked it out firsthand yet.

There were a couple of reviews on some of the booking websites, but ofcourse I always value the FT input more than any other!

Fairly new? I'm not 100% sure we're talking about the same place, but I'm pretty sure we are, in which case I had a colleague staying at there (in 2004) who didn't like it very much. Then again, his main gripes were poor location (because the customer's office was in Ari, across town) and no broadband internet available, neither of which is likely to concern you very much...

Not likely to be the same place. You're probably confusing it with another one of the Centre Point properties (there are 6 in BKK now - Silom, Sukhumvit (2), Langsuan, Saladaeng, Wireless). The Saladaeng location is 5 minutes walk to Silom/Patpong, and includes unlimited broadband access in the room.

I've stayed there and can only say you might enjoy the Swiss Lodge up the way on Convent Road better...........

Swisslodge is the place they built for the hotel, Center Point Saladaeng is the same place as jpatokal defenitely. It is located in the small street behind the Dusit Thani Hotel. As far as I can remember, it used to be bankrupt property and the QHouse bought and turn into service apartment ( :td: stolen the name "Center Point" from the Center Point Singapore which has no relationship and claim as Center Point, but do not expect the same service as Center Point in S'Pore).

Both Q Shoe and Jpatokal are right. Good luck !! :D

I was under the impression that the Centre Point serviced apartment facilities in Bangkok were uniformly excellent? I am a frequent visitor to the Wireless Road facility, a friend has a 1 bedroom unit, and it is very, very nice.

If I get a chance I'll stop by the Centre Point Saladaeng facility, and take a quick tour. Otherwise consider a move to the Wireless Road facility which is not all that far away.

I did notice another serviced apartment facility near Saladaeng called Chin House. Does anyone know anything about that one?

They are managed by the same company, but uniformity is questionable. The one on Wireless is their newest and probably their flagship property. The one on Langsuan, while adequate, is a bit shopworn.

If you can visit before check-in, that might not be a bad idea.

I've visited every CentrePoint property in Bangkok at one time or another except the SalaDaeng property. Even stayed @ the Langsuan one for a few nights one time. Nice, but a bit worn as pointed out earlier.

The Saladaeng property is much nicer - 2nd only to the Witthayu property which is their latest. (I used to live across the street from that property when I was @ All Seasons Mansion so I know it well).

But, I've already committed (prepaid) to the SalaDaeng property this time around for a couple of nights - good price, and I know the area very well (I also used to live at SalaDaeng place on soi SalaDaeng for almost a year). I'll give it a try and let everyone know my impressions when I return after New Year's.

Thanks!

OH, BTW, the Chin House property in the SalaDaeng area is quite old as well - not sure if they have revamped it recently, but it's definitely quite worn.
