I was just curious if anyone has tried booking with www.elong.net before? It is an online Chinese travel agency. Their fare prices are quite good, but I don't quite understand the booking process and if a foreigner (US) can purchase online and pick up the e-ticket at the airport counter.

they are usually more expensive than local agents or ctrip, but they do accept foreign credit cards.
if you have the opportunity to buy a ticket in china before flying, you will probably be able to beat their fares.
in case you didn't get my pm, i am going back to china today and can help you out if need be.

I also went on LP's Thorn Tree site and it sounded like some Americans bought flights thru elong.net before they went to China. The prices on elong.net are decent, esp. for booking before you get there.

around 50% of the ta's i've used in china accept foreign credit cards; almost all charge a surcharge of around 4% for cc purchases.
