We always liked staying at the Ho - We got a number of free stays, and as we always went to Vegas to golf. it was great to be able to stay at a place on the strip where you could park right in front of your room and take the golf clubs in the room without having to lug them half a mile from the parking garage. Also, it may have been the last place on the strip where you could get comped and still play $1 craps and $2 blackjack. We'll miss the old place - some of the last of the old Strip.

i wouldnt want a room facing the wheel. too disturbing. looks fun though, but the hotel is on the other side of the wheel it seems. doesnt make too much sense.

The Death Watch column/blog said Centex bought them out, so most likely condos if the bottom doesn't fall out of the market.

With the Ho gone, is there any place on the Strip where I can buy $1 Heinekens?
Or even domestic bottled beer for $1 is fine. I just need some place to drink away my sorrow cheaply after I've lost more money than I planned to gambling.
Though I'll miss drinking $1 Heinken's while listening to the Ho's cheesy Elvis impersonator, or the other Lounge Act-Supershock.

Casino Royale has $1 Michelobs and $1 crappy Margaritas. But it's always really crowded in there and the line for the bar can be pretty long. I usually avoid going in to Casino Royale but they do have dollar beer. I think Barbary Coast has $2 drinks all day. Or find a nice bar with $.25 video poker and get free drinks. Just play slooooowwww.
