We are skipping Bangkok (been there a couple times already) and going straight to Chiang Mai on our next trip. Does any one have any experience with tailors in Chiang Mai?

Thanks in advance.

I see on the Web site they mention "dress" shirts. I was thinking it might be fun to get some of what I think of as Hawaiian-style shirts made. (although with Thai designs on the cloth). Any idea how fast the turn-around is or what kind of price you could expect for say four shirts? I'll only be in Chiang Mai five days so don't know if that is enough time?

If you go there the day you arrive to be measured I believe there will be plenty of time. The price depends on the material. Also the more shirts the cheaper the price per shirt as they only have to make one pattern. They will keep your measurements on file and you can then email or fax them for additional orders in the future. For this reason have them take measurements for pants, suit etc, also while you are there.

Thanks for all of your posts. I was in CM in July and went with Genesis Tailors which is in the Shangri-La hotel. I had three suits and three shirts made. The suits beat my expectations and the prices were great. I'm back home now and will be ordering more. My wife also had a suit made (pants and skirt) and one shirt. She was very happy with it too. I'd highly recommed trying them out.

Can you please share some of the prices you paid with the board.

I'll have 4 days in Chiang Mai (and none in BKK) so Chiang Mai will be my only chance at some nice custom suits and dress shirts.

Anyone else have experience with Neramit and is there a rough guide on pricing? We're staying at the Le Meridien if it makes a difference on proximity, though I get the sense CM isn't that big.
