Budget Travel - cheapest way to get to ewr from bos?

I am tempted to take advantage of the NW ewr-pek sale, but because I am in BOS, not sure if I'll be able to get to EWR cheaply. A quick check on ITA showed flights to be about $250+, which makes the total not cheap anymore.

Jetblue doesn't fly BOS-EWR. I guess I can fly to JFK and then take the bus to EWR, but that's still a bit expensive, I think (~$100 + bus ticket (?))

Any advice? Thanks for your help!

What about the Chinatown bus to NYC (like $30ish) and then the PATH train to Penn Station in Newark, connect to the AirTrain from Penn to EWR? Shouldn't be more than $40 each way, but it would definitely take some time and planning to give yourself enough time at EWR.

Here is a link with directions from Manhattan to EWR.

The Chinatown bus should be even less, ~$15. Check out http://www.fungwahbus.com/.

Thanks for the info, esp. the links. Somehow I completely forgot about the Chinatown bus. Guess I have been spending too much time in the MR forum :)

Chinatown bus --> PATH train --> NJTransit local bus is definitely the cheapest way to go (under $20 each way total), although it certainly ain't the fastest.

Search the NYC forum to find the exact bus route number, but the bus will cost you far less than the AirTrain, and save you a connection, since the bus from Newark Penn actually stops at the terminals. With AirTrain, you'd have to take a train from Newark Penn to EWR, then take the monorail to get to the terminal.

Take PATH train to Newark, then from Newark Amtrak station take #62 bus to Newark

There is the Boston to Newark just by Amtrak option, especially as Amtrak has an EWR station. Using one of the 25% off codes in the Amtrak Guest Rewards forum, you should get the price down under $60 outside of holiday travel, and $85 for peak travel periods & 4-5 hours travel time.
