I arrive in LAX at 18:00, am confirmed on NZ5 at 21:45, on an Business class Award ticket, I am AC *G, will have carryon bags only, no checked bags.

Will NZ allow me to standyby for NZ1 if their is BP space available? AC allows you Award travellers to standby for earlier flights. Assuming NZ does allow standby, where would I be placed on the priority list, ahead or behind NZ's own FQTVs' who are trying to upgrade from Y to C?

Someone has to have the answer to this one. I am interested as my wife and I are in the same situation J awards). We arrive on Air Canada from Toronto at 4:30 and have award space on NZ 5 at 9:45. Would like to be able to shorten the layover and leave on NZ1.

If no one here can answer, I'll be the guinea pig next Monday and let you know how I make out.

I have in the past been unable to standby for earlier flight while on award - but this was some years ago and may have changed since or may be specific to the circumstances.
