I noticed a reference in the Mileage Run forum to a NW fare to SIN (from the West coast I assume) that was flown in April of 2005 for $550 all in.
Could someone please advise:
When this fare became available.
And how it was booked (ie. Travelocity, NWA.com, ???)
I am hoping to find a similar deal in Spring of 2006.
Also is it possible when flying on NW from USA to SIN to book a stopover in Japan?
Thanks in advance.

Fare sales happen when they want to sell seats, often from certain cities where the loads are low for a particular time frame. One needs to check www.nwa.com frequently and also read the e-mails from them.
Low coach fares (and even high ones) do not allow a Japan stopover. About the best one can get is 6-7 hours by routing thru HNL.

Believe that may have been me.
I found out about it in the MR forum, which is where you want to check for good airfare deals. That particular one had a very limited window of opportunity, believe it was the last week of April and three days in May, with a corresponding return days a few days later. The choice was SIN or HKG with departures from many US cities, but I believe not DTW or MSP (of course I could be wrong about that).
Not sure why they did that, but ALL the flights were packed, so hopefully they made some money.
They also had a $750 all in sale for a longer time period to more destinations, but it was a targeted email. Most likely for non-hub occasional NWA fliers, like myself.
If you don't have a WorldPerks account, sign up (who knows, if you know of someone who has one they may be able to get a referral bonus for you), they you can receive their offers via email. After I found the April deal in MR forum, I went back and noticed that one of my ignored emails from NWA contained that very offer @:-)
Happy hunting, it's addictive. I know, burned through a ton of vacation time accumulated over the last ten years this year

A lot of times, these kinds of deals aren't even valid from the west coast :td: it's strange really. places like DCA/MIA etc will have $500 SIN fares but it's 1200 from SAN/LAX/SFO.
FWIW, i've never gotten an email notice from NW about any real low drop in fares and i'm a NW Gold.. just gotta keep checking.
Had one a few weeks ago SFO-SHA which is pretty sweet since fares to SHA are quite high..
