Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Sidestep
I saw a great price on Sidestep this afternoon and now it's gone. It was for LAX_MSP and I think it was for Orbitz. When I went to the Orbitz site it wasn't on it. I'm new to this game but the astromical prices for this Christmas have driven me away from Northwest's site. So many games are played. Is there a chance this good buy may return? Are afternoons better than evenings, weekdays better than weekends?
Sale prices come and go quickly. All I can suggest is to try often at various times.
Thanks, Jiim! I'm not a gambler in Las Vegas but something about Priceline and the other hotel and airline sites hooks me! If Northwest makes me an offer "I can't refuse", we'll go. Otherwise, we can stay home at Christmas and go in the better weather. Are you listening, Northwest? I do feel sympathy for those who must make flights at exhorbitant prices.
Northwest prices [mid Dec.] took another jump today. I don't think it's due to tickets being sold but due to price gouging. I have been tracking the same few flights. I have heard that there is a certain time when the airlines let go of their seats, bring the prices down. We are getting near to that time so I'm still hopeful that we can find an affordable non-stop.

I don't think the NW prices are going to go down at this point - even if they have another sale, all of the sale-bucket tickets seem to be sold on every flight I could possibly take. So we'll be staying home for New Year's weekend.
Did get two tickets 2 two days ago. The good part was they were from our local airport, one which usually has higher prices, and we won't have to go to LAX. We got the outgoing date we wanted and the time but do have to return home two days later than we wanted. The price was fairly reasonable, considering how tight things are this holiday season. Don't give up, keep checking, you never know!

Yes! I scored a one-way ticket from SNA to RDM (hard to find good fares to RDM) in January for $117 all-in. Taking Amtrak down but the sleepers were ridiculous for the return. So glad I checked Sidestep.
