I read in an earlier post of someone talking about combining miles.

I have Alaska, American, and Delta miles.
Can I combine these into one account?

Thanks

ThanksNot without a moderate to severe devaluation of your points.

Most times, due to the devaluation, combining miles from different airline frequent flier programs is simply not worth it...

I think it's times like these the Webflyer Mileage convertor comes in handy:
http://www.webflyer.com/programs/mileage_converter/

Use it to check to see what you'd end up getting for your miles if converted to another program.

Depending on your current levels, you're probably better off just topping off each of those accounts individually than transferring. If you're looking to use them soon, you can probably top off with a credit card deal.

Thanks for the guidance.
Those rates of conversion are terrible. I don't see where that would ever be a worthwhile option.

I had miles scattered around too and did a couple of things to clean them up:

Magazine subscriptions
Donations

Just a few things you might consider.

I'm in a similar situation and after much investigation (including posts last week on this topic), I have pretty much given up on the idea of combining them. If you are close enough to an award, you could top off by buying them from the airline - almost all sell you miles. Or if you have a family member who has miles in the same airline, its also possible for them to transfer those to you at a cost.

Even for family/friend transfers, most airlines charge $.01/mile plus a $25 transaction fee. IF you plan to use it for a cheap domestic redemption, it is not worth it. After being on FT, I have begun to pick up my mileage accumulating account very carefully.

Consider transferring AA miles to Hilton Honors account in blocks of 5,000 miles. You will get 2 HH points for every AA mile. However, there is a $25 transaction fee. You may be able to utilize the points for a hotel stay. Please research it before transferring.

If you have Amex MR, consider topping off your DL skymiles account.

You may want to look at points.com
AA and DL are both members

Much easier and better to earn miles in one account. You should not have both ALaska and AA miles accounts unless you earn enough in both to easily use them. Pick one or the other and go with it.
