I've been trying to figure out aircraft types for a trip to the USA in April and wanted to know if anyone could confirm the following;

AKL-SFO in April will always be on a 777. So just 18 Y+ seats in two rows.

AKL-LAX will always be on a 747, but by April there will still be a couple of old style configurations flying that route. If I have a Y+ ticket and get an old plane I'd likely get an old J seat. If I get a refurbished plane I'd sit upstairs.

CHC-LAX will always be a 747 but is more likely to be un-refurbished. So again a Y+ ticket might get me an old J seat.

Do I have any of that correct?

I think by April you'll have a very good chance of a refurbished 744, or 777, on any of the North America routes. The schedules and seat maps I looked at all show refurbished aircraft by April, including CHC-LAX. Presumably, this means that Air NZ are confident of having enough refurbishments completed by then to cover all of those routes.

The island hopper flights between AKL and LAX are 767.
