Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Connecting with TG for MAA/S India

Just wondering wouldn't it be of good interest to CX to adjust the timing of
CX713 HKG 09:05 BKK 10:50
by an hour so that it provides a good connectivity with
TG 521 BKK 10:55 MAA 12:45

to reach MAA or other South Indian destinations. Right now all the South Indian traffic via the Pacific from the US to S. India goes thru SIN or KUL and they all reach the destination late in the night. By taking this route people could save almost 10 hrs and am sure that would increase the choice of passengers from SQ/MH to CX atleast to S.India.

If CX713 is advanced by an hour so that there is a 1 hr window in BKK, it would be the most optimal route for the US (Wcoast) - S India traffic which is pretty huge. CX does not fly to SIndia anyway and currently shares the route with SQ, IC or MH beyond SIN or KUL.

This is a rather obscure request, since you want to connect to a TG flight in BKK. Why dont you just book the whole trip on TG?

You wouldnt have to visit the transfer desk in BKK, but get your boarding card in HKG.
You could actually make the connection because TG does offer an 8AM dep from HKG.
You would save a lot of money on the airfare. Currently TG offers MAA in Y for HKD 4200 and in C for HKD 8400. Great offers!

Most people actually book like this if they fly to a destination not offered by their home carrier.
CX would actually love to fly to more places in India and offer better dep. times etc. but the talks between India and HKG remain stuck......

CX's MAIN responsibility is to provide a reasonably timed connection for CX flights, not for TG or other airlines.

Many CX longhaul flights arrive early in the morning and connects to CX713. For example, CX889 gets in at 0800 connects to CX713 at 0905. Advancing CX713 by one hour would have CX abandon this easy connection for the benefit of TG.

Perhaps you could ask TG to delay TG521 by one hour. :D :D

Good points. The reason for CX-TG connection is that TG does not fly out of SFO. I know CX is not gonna change their timings for the benefit of other carriers, but if it improves their passengers' connectivity it might be of interest to them.

But if CX713 serves better for some other long hauls, then this probably is not gonna happen.

TG would not change the timings as it continues on to DXB from MAA and returns back.
