"With Google Local for mobile devices, users can get colorful, overhead views of a neighborhood and even check a hotel listing to see how close it is to the beach. Unlike most new cellphone offerings that work on only a handful of phones, Google's application can be used on more than 100 current phones that use the Java Brew programming language."

Very cool if I could get it to download to my Nokia 6230. It seems to 'reboot' my phone in mid-download.

Wow, this is great. Got it working on my 6600. I searched for sushi and my zip code, and it gave me a sushi joint, with the option of mapping the business or calling them. Too cool. :)

Not yet, I tired downloading the "generic" versions to my 7250 and they both errored out.

Anyone know how I can download this to my computer first? I don't feel like paying for the data transfer...much rather just load it into my memory stick. I have a Sony Ericsson Z800i, which isn't a Cingular phone.

Give it a try again. I just got it working on my 6230.
I've been using "HelloWorld" on my Blackberry for months now, it seems to do the same as the Google made application...

I got the "413: page cannot be displayed" on my Motorola RAZR V3! Tried again and got it, thanks!

A clarification: Java (J2ME) and Brew are two different mobile platforms.
Google Local for mobile works with the former, and not the latter.
Cingular, Sprint, and T-Mobile (among others) favor Java; Verizon (among
others) favor Brew.
