Travel Technology - Free Bose portable CD player chucks in with QC2s and other questions

Been looking at refreshing my well used QC2s. I looked a couple of days ago on a number of places and having looked back today it appears the freebie Bose CD player is being given out again (as of 11/01).

What are peoples views of this freebie? For $50 I suspect it isn't up to much but is it worth paying any sort of premium for? I suspect many people like me have moved over to HD / flash based music players so has anybody ebay'd them? :p

I bought my first pair direct from Bose in the UK but looking on here for delivery to the US it appears Crutchfield is recommended. Any particular reason other than free shipping for the $299.99 price? Appears a lot of places sell for $300 (and with the free CD player)

Thanks
Fraser

It's a piece of junk - I think Bose ought to be embarassed to put their name on it.

Heaven forbid Bose reduce the price by $50. Go the mail-in rebate route and there will be a percentage that won't even send it in. Besides, if you are paying $300 for a pair of headphones, most likely you already have or will be buying a digital music player. I can't remember the last time I saw a CD player onboard, but I always see iPods and Dell DJs.

We got one with the last pair of QC2s I bought and it wouldn't fetch $50 from anyone who saw it in person. $12.95 maybe.
