Hello All.
My gf has a buiness trip to nyc coming up. However the hotel rates are very expensive $450 + for decent hotels. Her boss has said ok to up to $350.
I work for a fairly large company, and I am able to get a rate at a nice hotel for $179. Our Corporate rate is available for personal use. I'm woudl be just tagging along with her on the trip.
Would there be an issue of reserving the the hotel in her name, (she needs to submit reciepts for expense reimbursement), with my corporate rate. Since I will be staying with her?
It seems a little shady but doable? Is it ok? Are there any ramifications?
Thanks.

IMHO, not at all shady. IT certainly doesn't violate your company's policies. And I'm sure her company would appreciate her getting a better rate.

I would think that hotel should be amenable to changing the name on the folio when printing it.
Otherwise, given the steep discount, would her boss/company go along with this?
Perhaps the hotel would agree to a name of 'Sandra Smith-Jones' or something like that if it would make it past accounting.
You could always call the hotel anonymously and ask the duty manager.
It seems a little shady but doable?I don't see anything "shady" here. A "shady" scenario would be you trying to send her off using your corporate rate, without you coming along.

Well currently I have made the reservation in "Ms. Small Company's" name, with my corporate rate number. I will be in the room with her, and I can even add my name to the room.
Is there any possible repercussion with them coming back and say hey "Ms. Small Company" your name isn't listed with this company, we have to charge your card back for the difference.
I'm pretty sure that I can't get in trouble with this, I'll have my corp ID with me, and all that good stuff. I'm just trying to convince her that we don't have to stay at a 2* hotel, and it shouldn't be an issue.
I think the hotel won't / can't have an issue with this, correct?
I'm thinking she should just run it by her boss, and make sure it would be kosher with them?
Thanks guys in advance, just a weird situation.
PS The reason I want to stay at the hotel is they have Free WiFi throughout so I can get online while she is out and about.

I would make sure your name is on the record as the second guest. Then the hotel shouldn't have a problem with it. Your corporate rate is valid for your person travel and you WERE there.

as long as she pays for it (i.e. it goes on her credit card) and gets reimbursed, I don't see the issue.
Don't see an issue. Front desk clerks are not likely to ask anything, and even if they do ask for ID because of the rate you can show it. They don't care who's name is on the folio. My name is different from my husband's and we check in all the time under my name/he pays or he checks in/I pay.... As long as one of us can show ID showing one of us is entitled to whatever rate we booked under, no big deal. Be very surprised if anyone caused a fuss.
