Has anyone stayed at the Flamingo recently? Last I heard, they were refurbishing some rooms. And how about those electronic checkin kiosks? Anyone used one of those?

Was there last weekend, and I believe all the rooms are refurbished.
Have used the check-in Kiosks in the Hotel lobby, and they worked fine. I'd recommend using the check-in at the airport if you're coming in by plane (before 11pm). This is just as quick, and you can get the coupons for any promotional offers you've been promised right away.
I mention the part about the coupons because I haven't seen the kiosks spit out anything but your room key and cross-property charge card.

How were the rooms? Any one in particular that you liked? I heard there were fountain facing rooms.

I was there in April and the rooms are nice enough. Nothing special, but certainly nothing terrible.
The best rooms are the ones directly over the casino facing the strip or the pool. You can take an elevator straight up to them from the lobby, with little or no walking. (And have some of the only rooms in Las Vegas that are actually close to the strip.)
Some of the other rooms require a bit more walking.
One other note, I've gotten the "$20 upgrade" at other hotels, but the clerk at the Flamingo wouldn't think about it at all.
