Has anyone flown Iran Air and connected at Tehran?
I tried looking up their webiste (www.iranair.com). They have an e-booking option which doesn't seem to work. I tried Mumbain-Tehran vv. It gave some "Java error" messages. :td:
They are flying 747-SPs to BOM and I wanted to get on that exotic aircraft before they become history. :p
How are they interms of cost and safety?
Do they fly to Cairo or Nairobi?
Thx

why do dodgy airlines never have working websites - am always disappointed when trying to peruse Air Cuba or Zimbabwe, etc.

What is dodgy about Iran Air?

:D
LOL...
In some cases I would almost prefer a "pretty" unworking site than some of the functional scary ones.. Christ ever look at Ryanair?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh my eyes!!!
It looks like some sort of cheap amazon or ebay linked tack-on shopping site.. or perhaps one of those hotel "discounters" that really just add there $5 to the rack rates of the hotels website.

I personally find the Iran Air website excellent. The seat maps especially are very well presented.

You should have seen Iran air a few years ago.. it was pretty much a picture with a long distance phone# to call for reservations on it.
The smaller airlines always make this mistake. They go overboard and get some poor internet solution like El AL or as you have shown me, Iran Air. It looks really pretty but it is not entirely functional.. :D
BTW no disrespect sadiqhassan.. All airlines have growing pains.. Iran air is on the way up, no doubt, but is is not quite there IMO..

This past summer Iran Air had sent one of their B747SPs to Cologne/Bonn airport and for about $50 or so you could take a short flight around the Cologne area.
I have flown on South African Airways B747SPs a number of times back in the 1970's and 1980's, when they were the only planes that could make the flight from Johanesburg (my birthplace) to New York, even with a fuel stop on Ilhas da Sal in the Cape Verde Islands off Africa. They really are no big deal, although they do look pretty cool from the outside.

Tristan727, I'm guessing you clicked on the OP's link. He/she accidentally included a close parenthesis in it. The site is www.iranair.com and it works. You may want to try again.

Understand el Presidente/Hostage-Taker is getting rid of qualified officials & replacing with his cronies -presumably includes Iran Air.
...once you guys know how it works, please do let me know how much I'd have to fork out to fly THR-NRT on IR. That would be one-way, and I'd like to fly in March.
thank you & best wishes

You;re better off trying to contact a travel agency or something ... unless you are waiting for IR to update their site just in time for your flight :)

Yeah, I know :D
In any case, I'd like to be in Tokyo the weekend 17.2.-19.2. or so - and I wouldn't mind visiting Iran during the same trip.

My advice is avoid Iranair and syrian if travelling the middle east..from service, safety, aircraft, airport operations a complete shambles-the stresses are not worth it. They both try hard , just doesnt work..perhaps in the future things will change. Skytrax gives both airlines a 2 stars out of 5. Say no more.
