The spa at the Oriental is wonderful.

After your morning spa treatment, enjoy the fantastic lunch buffet here:

i know the spa at the oriental is very good. but the facility at shangri-la is newer. so it's a real dilemma.

I-Sawan is the newest spa and the only cottage spa available in the city of BKK and I think the most nicest one.

Check it out ^

You won't go wrong with the Oriental. I've only had the opportunity to stay there once (when someone else was paying - it's a bit out of my price range personally!) but I did indulge in the Spa amongst other things. The service is impeccable.

If I had to comment on the difference between the Oriental spa vs (what I've heard about the new spa @ the Shangri-La) I'd say that the Oriental is somewhat more "traditional" with their offerings and service. I imagine the prices are very similar as well - though as with most things, the Oriental may be slightly higher because of all the awards they've garnered over the years (well deserved, I might add)

Correct. The Chi spa at the SL is less expensive.

I have had services at both the MO and SL. Both offer excellent service. The spa at the SL feels like a monastery. It's quite dark inside. For some, that might have a calming effect. For me personally, I prefer the a spa enviroment with a bit of sunlight.

it's not easy to get a table for the lunch buffet at the oriental. last time we ended up having lunch at the cafe by the riverside which was nice as well.
