NEW YORK, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL - News) tomorrow will become the first carrier to inaugurate scheduled nonstop service between the United States and India, with the launch of daily flights between its New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport and Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.

I wonder if CO will consider some 772LRs for the route down the road if they 772ERs are payload-restricted.

I do not think so.

Since all other routes they intend to serve or already serve can be flown with their regular 772, it would be a small super expensive subfleet after all and not really what CO or any airline wants.

Again with the exception of a few airlines based in regions where you could need a plane able to do super long haul flights, there is no market for the 772LR or A 345.

Generally getting revenue only once for flying 17-18 hours puts you in a position to charge quite some premium, not to mention what CO needs to pay some countries for overflying them in this particular case...
