I'm planning a big summer trip with my cousing next summer.

One of the things I'm trying to do is fly on a variety of aircraft. I haven't flown on AS for about a year or so, mainly because of their ridiculous pricing.

I'm trying to get a routing between SFO and SEA that includes one, but I'm not seeing them. Where is AS using them nowadays?

The only regularly schedule Dash 8 service the Bay Area sees is 2 daily DH4 flights to BOI. SJC-BOI-SEA is a valid routing and can have better fares than a non-stop.

If you prefer to depart from SFO or OAK, you'd have to connect in PDX to get on a prop.

It's probably a bit out of your way, but Horizon flies the Dash 8 on the BOI-IDA-PIH run regularly.

BOI = Boise, ID

IDA = Idaho Falls, ID

PIH = Pocatello, ID

Boise is a big hub for the Dash 8-400s with service to PDX, GEG, IDA, PIH, LAX, SJC, SMF and SEA. You can also catch the Dash 8-100 out of Boise to IDA, PIH, and LEW if your so inclined.

Would going through BOI raise the cost significantly? It's bad enough that OAK-SEA-LAX is pricing at $300 each.

I've done LAX-BOI-SEA for the same price as LAX-SEA in the past.

The SJC-BOI-SEA routing previously mentioned is probably the way to go. With some nice weather, there is fantastic scenery on the BOI-SEA leg. And the crew/beer on Horizon are fantastic!

That's not a bad price.

I assume you mean for an AS fare, because I can fly a transcon for that much money.

Well, that's besides the point, isn't it? A different topic that involves the entire airline industry, not just AS. Yes, you can fly to SEA-TPA for under $200 on multiple airlines, but pay much more to fly SEA-LAX. Basic supply and demand, plus some sleezy airline rules. :rolleyes:

Considering that SEA-LAX RT is often mid-200's (and up!), flying SFO-SEA-LAX for $300 sounds about right. Doing a quick check, UA is the same price, and WN is more expensive due to its poor routing options. So don't just blame AS.

For Thanksgiving, I'm paying ~$450 to circle to OAK and SLC during the weekend. Same price I paid to fly to Europe and back. Seems wrong doesn't it. :( But I paid it... so apparently that's what they can sell the seats for.
