I tried a search but didn't get very far. It's hard looking for KLM-specific info, so sorry if there is already a thread about this:
How is the service AMS-LAX? I am looking at a Business Class ticket (Z fares) on this route, and was wondering if a full Lunch and then another full meal is served KLM's J class? Or is it like the AMS-YYZ service, with a Lunch and then a savouries "snack" pre-arrival?
The flight is about 11 hours, so it seems quite long to only do that, but I guess I AM used to NWA service, so you never know what to expect!
Thanks for the info.

Did the LAX run just three weeks ago and as always in row 80 on the upper deck.

It is indeed a full three course lunch. I had the salmon carpaccio as a starter with the catch of the day as the main course ( as always it looked :( , but tasted solid )

And as always I actually had two courses for dessert, the cheese
( roquefort , old grand dutch master or old amsterdam, a 18+ months well aged gouda and a camembert of good quality )

Crew was very attentive and offered seconds for dessert, took a piece of cake.

In between KL offers a Snack Basket located just behind row 80 ( ;) :D ) which is stuffed with sweets and sandwiches plus they offer Haagen Dazs icecream 4-5 hours after departure.

Sorry for the blabla before answering your question, but the 2nd meal on all KL flights to the US is only a light meal, regardless if it is YUL or LAX/IAH.

It was a walnut vinaigrette orange salad with mushrooms and a truly pathetic piece of dry pizza ( Please KLM, it is a premium class after all , but these days one can always blame AF for it :p ) plus a fruit salad, but you can choose between a savoury or sweet warm dish.

If you send me your email adress, I can send you the pics of the meal !

Not quite LAX-AMS, but I had the pleasure of experiencing WBC service between JRO and DAR yesterday evening. It consisted of the following :

Drink service : a choice of OJ, OJ or OJ.
Snack service : a vending machine style sandwich of your choice : cheese, cheese or cheese.
Hot towel after the meal.

That was it.

I know, it is only a forty minute flight, but at least they could have offered a choice of beverages and sandwiches. How about OJ or water; and ham or cheese?

A pre-departure drink would also have been welcome, especially because the APU was unserviceable. Always nice when the aircraft is on the ground in a hot country like Tanzania.

Pax in economy class got nothing whatsoever on this short segment. They were only served their first drink after take-off from DAR, i.e. after a 40 minute flight from JRO, followed by an hour on the ground without any air conditioning, during which temperatures on board soared to over 30°C. All in all well over two hours without anything to drink.
