Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Cathay 744 service KIX-HKG

I'm in the middle of planning a rtw trip. I really wanted the 744 service from Japan. I would be going into Tokyo, shinkansen to kyoto, and naturally wanted to take off from kansai. First of all, Kansai is closer to Kyoto than Narita and from what I've heard, the lounge at Narita ain't anything to write home about. For the longest time, i couldn't find any 744 service on CX from KIX. I searched individual days and finally found one on March 25. My first question is: What is the reason for them having this one odd 744 on the route that day? and secondly, Is there much chance of there being an equipment change (e.g. 330 or 773)?

Just wondering this cause I want the upper deck of the 744 for cathay business class.

You should not expect first class on KIX-HKG route.
Frequently it is changed to CY 2 class configuration.
An odd 744 schedule may be caused by aircraft scheduling of other routes,
load factor, aircraft maintenance, etc.
