Hi
Checked in the Westin BKK a couple of hours ago and typing this in the Executive Lounge, whose evening finger food has improved by heaps.
Anyway, I's told at check-in that all Executive and Deluxe Suites were taken up, so couldn't extend one to me. However, out of curiosity, I checked SPG.com and found that such suites were indeed available for reservation.
What gives? Ever had such a thing happened to you here? Cheers!

Always treated very well there as a Plat. Book the Suite and see what happens.

Yes it has happened to me twice in the past at this hotel. Got an upgrade to an executive room, despite deluxe suites and executive suites showing as available on spg.com. I didn't bother to pursue it though.

The benefit is for standard suites. Usually suites with names like Executive and Deluxe are not standard. @:-)

To clairfy, at the Westin BKK, the standard suite is indeed the Deluxe suite. There's no other suite "below" this category.
And as fair warning to all, DO NOT get a room facing the main road/Skytrain. I's on the 22nd floor, and it was noisy as h*ll from the traffic and there was construction noise/work going on at 2AM (!) from a building nearby.

I staid in this Hotel thee times. Always got a normal room on executive floor.
Will be there again next week on thursday. I used points for this stay.
I have stayed there 6 times in the last 2 years.
I got suite upgrade last 3 times(not first 3 visits).
I felt they tried to upgrade us as much as they could.
Since they keep on tracking us how many times we stays there,
I felt I got better rooms now days.

Very gracious staff made our stay pleasent. As SPG Gold we were upgraded to Executive level room and given certificates for drinks at the bar and fresh fruit in the room daily.
Although our room faced the SkyTrain, I don't remember being able to hear any noise.
