Have my first LY flight (and first Israel trip) coming up and I wondered if anyone had taken this flight? Any good seats to ask for on the 737-800? Good views? Any preference on which side of the plane to sit on to see stuff? May sound childish, but I am kind of excited to try a Israeli airline.

Welcome to Israel
1. As to seats I am not that familiar but always try to get as far foward as you can as exiting is from the front. Try of course not to sit on the wing or you will see next to nothing
2. As per the views it really depends on how the plane lands, something which is impossible to know in advance. If the plane makes a straight- in approach then it really doesn't make a difference. If you land after 2pm there is a good chance it will make a circle approach and then the left side is much better as the plane circles to the left and if you are on the right you see mostly sky
So I'd go for the left in any case
Enjoy your flight and Shalom

mostly, planes approach TLV from the sea, right over south tel aviv, so I suggest going on the left side of the plane.
You'll be able to see Kikar Rabin by the ugly city hall, the Azrieli Center (very cool looking buildings) and right by it, the Kirya.
my signature is that way in part because of the view on the way in, otherwise i prefer a seat on the middle strip.
