I'm Diamond in both programs. Could be either award or paid stay. Any thoughts on how the hotels compare on service, amenities, and location (leisure stay). Thanks!
Hilton HHonors - Conrad or Grand Hyatt in Bangkok?View Full Version : Conrad or Grand Hyatt in Bangkok? Explore Oct 26, 05, 12:45 am I'm Diamond in both programs. Could be either award or paid stay. Any thoughts on how the hotels compare on service, amenities, and location (leisure stay). Thanks! I have never stayed in the Hyatt but been there for restaurants etc. many times. The Hyatt location is arguably better, it is fairly close to Rajadamri BTS and directly opposite big shopping outlets like Gaysorn and World Trade Centre. The Conrad feels newer (as it is) but it also feels slightly remote from anywhere but the US Embassy. It isn't that far from a BTS or things to o (in fact Ruam Rudee behind the Conrad has some excellent restaurants) it just feels slightly remote. Much will depend upon why you are in BKK and what you are looking to do. I feel that the Conrad is a bit too pricey for what it offers and look at alternatives as better value on the whole (e,g, you can get a suite at the Plaza Athenee which is more conveniently located than the Conrad, for not much more than a room price at the Conrad). Also 50k points for HH redemption is a bit of a rip off at the Conrad. I have stayed there many times and have had good and bad experiences, some people here seem to love the place. I just think there is better value out there. mcgahat Oct 26, 05, 12:42 pm I have stayed there many times and have had good and bad experiences, some people here seem to love the place. I just think there is better value out there. I have to agree with this. While my personal favorites are SPG properties in BKK I just think there are a lot better values than than the Conrad in BKK. It is a nice place but between the two I think the Hyatt is much nicer and I do like the location better. bp888 Oct 26, 05, 6:55 pm .. Also 50k points for HH redemption is a bit of a rip off at the Conrad. Conrad Bangkok is Category 5 so it's 35k per night. But I agree generally with the rest of your comments. tide Oct 26, 05, 9:37 pm I've stayed at the Conrad many times and once at the Grand Hyatt (last year for 3 nights before moving out to the Conrad). The Grand Hyatt has comparatively older rooms with dated furnishings. The hotel and lobby area are very busy as they host a lot of weddings, meetings etc. I have not, out of choice, been there again. |
