Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - How to get status or upgrade on Cathay?

I am Premier Exec on United and Platinum on AA. Do these airlines partner with Cathay? If yes, will my status transfer over? What is the chance that I get access to the lounge or even a upgrade (I know an upgrade is unlikely, but what is the harm in asking)

AA and CX are both part of OneWorld, which means you get access to lounges when flying on CX, and your status puts you fairly well up the pecking order for upgrades, but no guarantees and no sure tactics for getting one.
