Hello everybody (Salut à tous),

I have to temporarily relocate to Montreal for business reasons in the the first half of 2006 and am currently looking for accommodation options. Should be downtown (or close to downtown), one-bedroom or loft, large enough for two, nice, fully furnished, high level of comfort (modern, quiet, washer/dryer, all appliances, maid service available). Budget around 3000 CAD/months.

The only thing I found so far is www.oldmontrealapartments.com - any personal experience with them?.

If anybody has any suggestions - I would greatly appreciate any info.

Thanks,

v-r

I've been doing some checking myself on lofts for rent in Montreal. This website looks like it has a couple of nice places, but I haven't actually booked with them so can't vouch for it: http://loftsinmontreal.com/.

If the link below doesn't work, go to www.tourisme-montreal.org

Click on "Eat, Sleep, Shop" on the left menu bar and select "Apartment-Hotel" in the right menu bar.

Four months in Montreal? I'm jealous!

It's a little above your target budget but check out Le Square Phillips Hotel & Suites (http://www.squarephillips.com/en/tarif.html). You might be able to afford a studio. My wife and I stayed in one of their studios this past September. Their studio's are way larger than a standard hotel room (converted from a warehouse I think). All their rooms have kitchenettes (fridge, stove, microwave, dining table, cutlery, pans, etc). The furnishings are modern because it's a fairly new hotel (less than 5yrs old).

Location-wise, it downtown near the Bay. We were able to walk everywhere touristy. I was able to get a corporate rate because it's one of my company's preferred hotels in Montreal (a couple of blocks away from our offices). The neighbourhood seemed very safe. We came back to the hotel at all hours and never felt like we were going to get mugged. The closest metro entrance is about two blocks away (by the Bay). While there are lots of places to eat, we didn't find a grocery store nearby.

Amentity-wise, it has self serve laundry facilities, two computers in their business centre with free Internet access, a small pool, free breakfast, etc. It has daily maid service that you asked about and a concierge, 24 front desk, etc.

Bottom line is that I would not hesitate at all staying here again when we go back to Montreal.

That said, I just checked out www.oldmontrealapartments.com and their suites kind of blow Le Square Phillips Hotel out of the water :) . You might want to check them out just for comparisons as well anyways.
