:td: .... well what can i say.... service is still impeccable. Last month, My flight from MNL-HKG segment going to Lax was postponed for 2 hours so I had to stay in hongkong for CX880 instead of CX882. 2 days ago I left LAX-MNL ( CX 881/ CX 901 in First class ) 2 Baggages of mine left in hongkong. I waited in Manila airport for 3 hours for my baggages and cant be found. I got my baggages 12 hours later and had to cancel my business meeting that day. I have no extra clothes to wear. CX did not even bother to ask me if I have something to wear or not even volunteered to pay for clothings or any other personal stuffs needed. Do you guys think I need to write CX in Hongkong?

If it was me, I would complaint to CX.

By the way, the ground staffs are Phillipines Airlines or CX has their own in MNL??

CX in MNL should have given you some $ to buy for incidentals. As well as have asked you to fill out a form to trace the bags. It's not much, but it's something.

Your cc should have some insurance as well if you bought your ticket on it.

Go to CX's website on where to write to.

Sorry to hear about what you experienced. I think someone at CX Customer Service dropped the ball there. Do try writing to CX in HKG, at least to let them know about your disappointment. I normally don't expect compensation, and instead believe that a customer-focused organization like CX values feedback on the things they don't do right. (I like giving such feedback, if I trust the organization to follow up and try to prevent the situation from re-occurring.) So far, my experience has been that CX takes calmly-written complaints seriously. I've had Customer Service call me on my mobile in the UK to follow up on my complaints (I wrote as a bottom-tier member of the Marco Polo Club).

My brother also suffered seriously delayed baggage flying TPE-HKG-MNL. He dislikes CX because of that one experience, and can't fathom why I have such a positive view of the airline. (Maybe I'll tempt him into giving CX a second chance by buying him a ticket to HKG ;) .)

I wish I had a few upgrade for eveytime I arrived in MNL to find one of my bags did not. And this routine started 8 years ago. The staff on the ground at NAIA smile and move their eyes from side to side as they pass the blame on to "not receiving any message from Hong Kong". Now, F pax see they name on a sign and are giving a white slip telling them that there is a speical waiting area half way down the belt and a cart for their bags. WOW!!!!

Hmm. Once time arriving in HKG for a connection (luggage only checked to HKG), my luggage wasn't there. It got lost on the AA leg in the US, not on the CX leg from US to HKG. As I approached the belt, a CX guy asked if I was on that and that flight, took a look at my luggage stub and appologised that my bag would be one day delayed, and I was given $800 HKG without even asking. I was in J. Impeccable service as I have come to expect from CX, especially in-flight and in HKG.

The airline carrying the bag to your final destination is responsible for it. It doesn't matter if you had originally flown on AA, connected to UA, connected to SQ connecting to CX.

And again, it is up to each airport policy as to how much to give you in expenses. You can't demand...

I once flew from CDG-LHR-HKG-BKK. CDG - LHR on BA. Apparently BA 'forgot' to load it!

Upon arrival in BKK, bag did not come through. I was flying F.

CX BKK only gave me THB 2000 as the 'maximum' allowance permitted by them! It wasn't even per day. It was just that. It didn't matter I was a MPC member, it didn't matter I was flying F.

Thank goodness my bag followed through less than 24 hours later on a direct CDG-BKK flight on TG! CX had already known somehow that the bag was not on my flight.. and had it all arranged and when I made my complaint at BKK, they went into action right away.

Good info Guy Betsy. Guess my point was that compared to other airlines/airports where I found myself without/damaged luggage, CX in HKG was really good. Two times this year I've had damaged luggage, once with AA/ORD and once with KA arriving in mainland China, and both times I quickly realized the best way of action was to suck it up and replace it on my own. So it's sinking in even for me as a die-hard CX fan that the lesson learned is to both pick a good airline and the right airport when losing luggage. :D
