Someone please shed a little light on this for me:
I'm trying to book travel for later this year PHL-SEA. US is only operating:
INBOUND: 7:55AM/6:15PM(nonstop)
5:25AM/2:40PM(connx via CLT)
RETURN: 7:00AM/11:15AM(nonstop)
12:25PM/10:45PM(connx via CLT)
THAT'S IT! All other flights are codeshares operated by UA via ORD/DEN/SFO/IAD. Is SEA not profitable or are the loads just so piss poor in the winter that US can't justify any additional traffic there? Anyone with some info please advise....

Sounds like you answered your own question - there are other flights via UA during the day. Not sure I see the problem if there are two each way - how many choices do you need?

For one, how about a SEA-PHL redeye?
For some people, given the choice, they will prefer to fly home overnight as opposed to staying over and losing the whole next day flying.

For one, how about a SEA-PHL redeye?. . .
There is one via Vegas.
Look at americawest.com, there are a bunch more options via PHX and LAS. America West has extensive service to SEA. They're not non-stop, but there are a lot more options in addition to the US schedule.
For example, outbound (all one-stop):
7:00 - 1:21 via PHX
8:00 - 2:05 via LAS
10:10 - 4:18 via PHX
6:10 - 12:42 via PHX
8:21 - 2:27 via LAS

I fly SEA-PHL-BOS all the time.
If you want flexibility - it'll be more expensive.
Redeye = usually very cheap, at least for me.
Also - more options on weekdays than weekends.
Have you checked looking into that?
I cannot comment on AW since I've never flown them.
This is all for straight US flights.

Then why using the US Airways timetable am I finding 2 x PHL-SEA and 2 x CLT-SEA flights a day? Plus a whole page full of connecting UA codeshare flights via SFO, DEN, IAD, and ORD?
You've had schedule confusion before I seem to recall.
Just because you aren't seeing an option when you do a search for reservations doesn't mean it doesn't exist in the timetable....
Looks like plenty of options for an airline that, thus far, has been concentrated on the east coast.

That's surprising to me. I've taken the redeye from SEA to PHL on Thursdays a few times the past couple months, and they've been close to full.

I show the following on SEA-PHL/SEA-CLT scheduling:
US28 SEA-CLT: 12:25p-8:05p
US518 SEA-CLT: 10:30p-6:13a
US274 SEA-PHL: 7:00a-2:56p
US72 SEA-PHL: 11:10a/11:20a-7:07p/7:15p
US112 SEA-PHL: 10:00p-5:51a (except Sat, ends 08Nov)
(from: http://www.trvlink.com/download/us/usaschedules.pdf )
As an alternate there are UA red-eyes to ORD and IAD, or through SFO or LAX if you have that extra time, and there are also likely options through PHX and LAS if you're willing to bounce through on an HP flight.

HP490/HP256 via PHX: 11:15a-10:37p
HP139/HP432 via LAS: 12:44p-11:49p
HP579/HP431 via LAS: 7:51p-6:39a+1

I fly from SEA to PHL on a regular basis. Out of SEA I always take a redeye flight on US metal. Currently, they're offering a direct flight from SEA departing at 10pm and a connecting flight through CLT at 10:30pm. The later is good if you're looking to pick up some extra miles :) Usually, the loads are 80-100% full in F and often also 80-100% in the back.
Flying back to SEA from PHL they have a great selection. I prefer the 8:25pm flight, which extends my weekend to almost 40hrs... haha!
Goodluck and search via schedule if you aren't already.

I believe the 8:25 p.m. flight is gone for the winter months.
