The Sheraton Airport Tempe is not very nice. However, I have not stayed at the Sheraton Crescent.

In Phoenix, there are Sheraton properties that do not give you points or stays. So check before booking.

Not as long as you book a qualifying rate, per the terms of SPG.

The Sheraton Crescent is a significantly nicer hotel, in my opinion. If location isn't an issue, I'd definitely stay there over the airport Sheraton.

I know that you said no money, but FWIW the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass is on the Cash & Points list until Dec.

I've stayed at the Sheraton Airport Tempe several times when I've had an early morning flight or when my alternatives (such as Wild Horse Pass or Kierland) are too expensive or sold out. The Airport hotel is not very impressive, but fine if you need to be close to the airport. It wasn't bad.

My fiance has stayed at the Crescent. Got an upgrade and liked it fine. It was the most convenient *Wood location to her conference.

Shortcut3d's point about no points is true. The Sheraton Desert Oasis and Westin Kierland Villas are SVO properties and have limited SPG benefits. I'm sure that there are probably other threads about these properties. I've never been to Desert Oasis, but the Kierland Villas are very nice inside. I've stayed there and have taken a tour.

I would take the Crescent over the airport location BY FAR! If you are a plat especially as there are no suites at the airport. But I would give serious consideration to the 4 Points Phoenix Metro-Center. It's about a mile from the Crescent, closer to the mall, restaurants and Castles and Coasters, it has a very nice pool and hot tub (better than the Crescent except for the lack of a water slide). Pool and hot tub are 24 hours and the pool is huge.

I think the 4 Points is more modern, fresher and nicer than the Sheraton, and as plats we have 100% suite upgrade percentage ther. Actually, we have 100% at Crescent also, but only staid once so it's hard to say if that is normal or not. The 4 Points we have stayed about a dozen times at and always gotten a suite, usually a poolside cabana suite which is smaller than the others but is what we like best.

We mostly stay at the 4 Points now when in Phoenix for biz, but we LOVE the Sheraton Wild Horse and if your schedule and transportaiton permit, it's stunning and would be a FAR nicer place to spend the weekend than any of these others.

We just returned from three nights at the Tempe Sheraton Airport Hotel and were pleasantly surprised. A few days prior to my stay, I received an email from the manager asking if there was anything more they could do for me. I communicated with them and asked for a quiet room (there are no suites at this property), and upon arrival we were assigned to a room overlooking the pool on the Club Level. The room was larger and the bath room was much larger than what we had at the Sheraton Our Lucaya the previous week, and was well maintained. One major glitch was that there was not the required hair dryer in the room necessitating our call to the front desk for one. Otherwise the room was well maintained.

The Club Level features a room where a continental breakfast is served and the Happy Hour includes a relatively lengthy comlimentary list of wines and liquours. One of the hosts was not scheduled to work on Sunday, but came in to supervise a new employee working with the SPG members. Upon checkin, the front desk staff did everything right, welcoming us and offering us everything that was expected.

This hotel is contains about 215 rooms, and last week a $7 Million renovation began, even though we thought the hotel did not require any further renovations at this time. My wife swam in the heated pool early in the morning and I used the hot tub at 7 AM another morning when I found the air chilly, but the water quite warm.

If we needed a hotel close to the airport, we would not hesitate to stay at this property again. The Cresent must be a spectacular property if so many of you are recommending it over the Tempe Sheraton Airport Hotel.

.. The Cresent must be a spectacular property if so many of you are recommending it over the Tempe Sheraton Airport Hotel. Not spectacular, roughly comparable. The airport Sheraton has improved over the last couple of years, Crescent has degraded (and isn't better than the 4Pts Metrocenter across the highway from it). The spectacular hotel in PHX for starwood is Sheraton Wild Horse Pass, which is a big surprise. Happens to have one of the best spas in AZ (which is full of great spas) and maybe the best restaurant in PHX (certainly in top 10, again with stiff competition, beating out the Four Seasons etc.). And *wood is constructing 2 (maybe 3) new hotels in PHX (all high-end). Quite an amazing concentration of hotels in this market.

I have been staying at the Sheraton PHX a lot since January, and agree with everything that Life_Platinum said. The Sheraton PHX is not that bad, and the Club lounge is nice. The staff is also very friendly.

I have not stayed at the Sheraton Crescent because it is too out of the way for my work, so I cannot comment on it.

As for the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass, search the Starwood forum for my comments on this superb hotel with perhaps one of the best (and priciest) restaurants in Phoenix. It is indeed a very nice hotel, but it's not convenient to Phoenix and Scottsdale.

The Crescent has slightly nicer rooms than the Airport. Crescent has suites.
The Airport has free drinks at the lounge, you pay for alcohol at the the Crescent lounge.
Platinums and executive floor stayers can get free coffee at the Crescent Starbucks. Verify it first as some of the staff do not know about this perk.
Both have evening appetizers and continental breakfast in the lounge.
Crescent lounge is only open in morning and evening.
Both have free internet computer with a printer in the lounge .
Internet is free on exec floor rooms at Crescent, $12?? at Airport.
Airport has free airport bus.
The Airport is under renovations, is supposed to be complete by Fall 2007.

I was underwhelmed at the Crescent last year. It was standard "middle America" Sheraton fare, with typical service lapses, but nothing horrible by any means.

Just spent a couple of nights at the Crescent. Not bad, staff very helpful. However, be aware of the "nominal" charges for drinks in the club lounge, such as $10 for a glass of red wine.
