Flybe.com introduces pre selected seats online!
Today, Flybe added another great improvement to Flybe.com – the facility that enables passengers to pre-select their preferred seats.
This new feature will give passengers the opportunity to look forward to their Flybe flight in the knowledge that they are guaranteed to sit next to their loved ones or in an aisle or window seat depending on their preference. Choosing normal seats costs just £5 and choosing extra legroom seats costs only £15! There is also flexibility in terms of altering any selection that is made.

What’s more, customers will be able to double-check their travel details online and take advantage of great hotel and car hire deals. Late bookers will also appreciate the new possibility of booking flights and flying the same day – ideal for last minute business meetings or for spontaneous travellers!

The full extent of the new features on flybe.com include:

• Pre-select your seats while booking
• Economy plus passengers pre-select seats for free adding value to our top end product
• Pre-select seats after making the booking via a convenient link on the confirmation page up to day of departure
• Retrieve your booking to remind yourself of the itinerary, purchase car hire, purchase hotels or select seats
• Change your selected seats up to day of departure
• Book flights on the same day of departure (up to 2 hours before departure).

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, said of the new functionality; “This is a fantastic addition to the functionality on flybe.com and clearly demonstrates our ongoing commitment of providing comfortable, stress free travel.” And went on to say “Today’s launch of the pre-assigned seating facility empowers the customer and allows greater peace of mind and comfort to maximise the holiday experience.”

I wonder how many people are actually prepared to pay an extra fiver to select a specific seat on a short-haul flight.

I suspect this feature will go the same way as Ryanair's in-flight entertainment boxes!

Hmmm, interested. Might be because they need some extra cash.

Flybe have recently cut quite a few routes, especially from EGGP and EGSH due to load factors. They've also splurged a lot of cash on 14+12 option E190s.

I think the UK loco market is due a correction, most people at work are of the same mind. Will be a shame if its Flybe because their service (if not their punctuality) is good.

I apologise humbly and yes, most of my posting is on Pprune in a professional capacity!

GP = Liverpool

SH = Norwich

E190 = Embraer 190 Regional Jet (about the size of a Bae 146)
