Starwood Preferred Guest - point accumulation limit on SPG amex?

I just signed up for my SPG amex, after realizing, only three years too late, that the SPG points would be a lot better of a value than my 1.5% cash back card.

I tried a search but couldn't find an answer to my question (I am either bad at search or it isn't there): Is there a limit on how many points I can earn each year using SPG amex?

If it makes a difference, I am fairly certain I've dropped to no status, since I didn't stay much at Starwood this last year.

Also, if anyone has any tips on easy ways back to GLD status, I'd appreciate them. Given I dropped my HHonors status as well this past eyar, I'm aiming to move all my business to starwood for the forseeable future.

True. But let's make clear that you must have the REAL Amex Platinum charge card, not one of the numerous Amex Platinum credit cards.

Thanks for correction UpgradeMe! They will give you a promo code to get the upgrade. I had a friend call them and they got the upgrade to gold status just by saying that they had the Platinum charge card. They didnt even ask them for the promo code.

You can get Gold status for $10 by signing up for Ameniti membership.
Personally, I haven't gotten any upgrade as SPG Gold (unless SPG floor room is considered as upgrade) unlike HHonors Gold.

Too bad to hear about the upgrades - one thing I really like about Hhonors is how nicely they treat their elites.

No limit from Starwood. You'll be limited only by your Amex credit line (driving how much spend you can put on the card).
