On Friday im flying LH470 FRA-YYZ in First and i was hoping for some reccomendations on best seats?

I am prebooked in 82K right now, but was planning to change to 83K.

Can anyone who has flown the 744 in F please give me some advice on good seats?

Also, what is the hand baggae limit when flying in this cabin?

I planned to take my camera bag which is a rucksack type bag, with a small shoulder bag for magazines/ipod/haedphones/books/psp etc and then a suit carrier for a couple of shirts and a suit.

Finally, is there a dress code? I mean i know if i turn up in shorts/t shirt and a baseball cap im liable to get told to sod off. But would say casual trousers and a short sleave shirt be ok? Or should i just wear a suit and shirt?

Cheers, Chris

Hi there,

as for the seat I'm no expert on the LH F cabin (C I can help you) but I believe 83K is the way to go as it is an emergency exit row seat. Regarding the hand luggage issue you will be allowed two pieces and I wouldn't worry about it as in F they are quite lenient. Same goes for the cloth. Your suggestion is perfectly fine. You are not getting an op-up here where dress code would matter. For what its worth, as long as someone is on a paid tix ($$$ or miles) I think it is up to them to decide what they want to wear though decent attire is appreciated. I have seen people in track suits on longhaul F-flights and no one really cared.

enjoy your flight

Hey Chris,

if you're flying F and paying some thousand bucks for the ticket... in my opinion nobody could / should / can tell you what to wear. It's just up to you!!!

Just go for comfortable attire or use the LH pyjamas anyway (sometimes you have to ask for them...).

I never care of what I'm wearing when I fly F (anyway it happens not that often), so you should do, too. You have to feel comfortable and enjoy your F flight with LH!!!!

Go for the shirt / shorts and the baseball cap!

Cheers

Who ever invented it, this dress code thing is an absolute myth. People wear anything they are comfortable with in F. Actually, there would be nothing wrong with your shorts, t shirt, baseball cap outfit, if that's what you want to wear.

I have worn any typ of cloth in F, from business suits to shorts and t-shirt. I have never noticed any difference in the way I was treated. BTW, when I am wearing a suit, I normaly try to change to pyjamas or a comfortable shirt (if supplied) before take off anyway.

People who believe, that begging for upgades at the gate is worthwhile sometimes also believe, their chances are getting better, if they wear decent clothes. My upgrades come my way because of status not dress, I would never go and ask. But you are in F already, so this is of no concern to you.

It might be a bit cold in shorts ? Has Cheltenham suddenly had a couple of really hot days in October ?

I useally wear something casual and comfortable as I will want to get as much sleep as possible after the meal (and two helpings of caviar). The LH sweater is also quite nice. Ask for it if they do not offer it to you.

I prefer 83 a /c as on h/k side is the food bar / tray.
Or 84 h/k preferably h.... many people prefer 81 as they get service first, but I am not so into it...

On the carry-on limit, in theory no problem, but you might have trouble getting it past the guys at security, as they also check the allowance. but space wise you are ok. they hang the bag i nthe closet, and each seat has an overhead bin... on a / k you have a side bin as well

Dress code, I do Jeans, Polo for check in . short and PJ for the flight never had any problems, only looks b/c I am rather oyungish looking ...

Taking into consideration what LH offers in terms of clothing in F nowadays (and having in mind the Bogners and Aigners they offered before) you can't be dressed worse than with the van Laack sweaters and pyjamas now.

In your case I am just not quite sure if the Boris Becker outfit is still fashion... However, with a suit, shirt and tie however you might feel pretty lonely... :D

Just back from a DEN-FRA-DEN trip outbound in 81A and back in 82K. I liked 82 better as you had some space in front of you before the bulkhead. Regardless, there is plenty of room in both of those seats and the service on my trips was excellent.
