Hi, Ive got another question. (sorry about that)
Is there a way for me to get into the hertz #1 club when i am only 21? It sasys by the website "some exceptions apply". Also once I can get into it, is there a way i can get GOLD for free? I saw that i can get it from www.neamb.com, but that deos not help me with underage.
thank you

Here's the link for joining through US Airways Silver preferred service - it was posted here on FT a while ago - http://www.usairways.com/dividendmiles/preferredlevels/preferred_offers_04/sp04.htm
You can sign up for #1 club if your under 21 - that's not an issue - then, once you complete your first rental (the rental where they check ID - and I don't think they check it that closely as I rented & was #1 Gold since I was 23 & never paid a fee for it or paid underage charges), you'll be fine after that. They only check ID once - the first time you use gold service - from that day onwards, anytime you rent at a location that has Gold service, you should be fine...they sometimes check IDs, but that's only a name verification, never an age verification.

I joined Ameniti as I wanted to use Hertz to rent some of thier more premium cars such as:
Lincoln Navigator and I need to use my #1Gold card to use it but I am only 21 as well. If they won't elt me rent a premium car I am ok with a Ford Expedition but I don't want to pay underage feeds becaues its like $35/day.
Is there any way I can get around this?

If you can somehow get affiliated with a CDP number that allows underage rentals, you'd be set. When I was in law school, the $20/year it cost me to join the American Bar Association as a student member was well worth it, as one of the benefits was being able to rent at age 21 without an underage fee (except in NYC, which has its own laws/rules about renting at age 21--they'll let you rent, as required by state law, but charge you the full underage fees). Also managed to get signed up for the #1 Gold program with no fee (although that's not hard if you know where to look).
It might be worth investigating any professional organizations/groups that you can get yourself affiliated with, to see if they have any sort of similar benefit.

Thank You. I tried applying thru that link, but the computer automatically checks your age, and it comes back as saying that I dont meet the minimum age requirments!
Thank you

Any 'suggestions' for adding one of the above to an existing acct? Seems to be a strong push for 'new registrations' :D -- 'calling' is probably not the thing to do.
..and.. did I read here: they tend to lose track of gold expirations??

Re the application process, if I remember correctly, even with a valid CDP number allowing me to rent at 21+, I couldn't fill out the online application, because it would automatically punt me due to my age. However, I had no problem when I applied the old-fashioned way, on paper.

I joined #1 Gold through about two years ago through a link from FT. I was 23 at the time and had the same error message when inputing my date of birth. My solution seemed to work: Perhaps accidentally, adjust your year of birth so that you are 25. Then once your membership is set up, go into your profile and change your birthdate back to the real thing. It seems that Hertz will let you change your birthdate to pre-25 once you're a #1 Gold member, but not when you apply.

...she will then realize that you are under-25, and complain that you are not allowed to join the Club. Happened to a colleague.

A friend of mine worked for a company with a Hertz corporate contract that allowed 21+ drivers (though not 18+ drivers) and that's how he managed to rent cars when traveling. I'm not sure if he got stuck with a surcharge or if the corporate rate precluded that from being added.

Thank You everybody.
I want to try getting myself "cleared" at jfk. Does anyone know if they are more difficult to deal with then other locations? Also what woulld be (if there would be) the underage fee for me.
thankx

That's NY state -- different rules apply because of some state rule, but I don't know what it is.

LOL, that's happened to me a few times. I usually respond by reminding them that I'm on a corporate CDP and that my company is probably one of Hertz's three-largest customers, so there's a reason why the requirement is waived for me. That, plus not a day goes by when I'm not in a Hertz car. :D

Didn't mean to bring up an old thread, but I thought I would point out that you can't change your year of birth online. I just tried this method to sign up for #1 Gold, and I ended up having to call in to have my year of birth corrected.
if you have a cdp that makes you gold, you should be fine

On my corp CDP we can have any aged driver so long as not on a provisional licence, i.e must hold a full driver's licence. The youngest driver we had was 19.
