I have reserved a Star Alliance RTW in biz class, and one of the legs is CHC-AKL. It says I'm in Economy. Is there no biz class on domestic flights? It's been several years since I took a domestic flight in NZ, but I do remember a business class back before 9/11, right?

Also, I'm later flying AKL-SIN on NZ81. United's ticketing calls it Connoisseur class, but I guess that is normal business class on NZ? What is the service like on this flight?

TIA!

Business class was removed several years ago. There are a couple of international flights CHC-AKL (that direction only, flights numbered NZ9x) which have business seating but economy service.

Connoisseur class is a legacy of United's system - just means business class. If you're travelling before late Jan 2006 then AKL-SIN will be on 767, thus old business class (small PTV, old seat). If after late Jan 2006, then will be on 777 with new business class (suites same as Virgin Atlantic, AVOD, etc). I'm deliberately vague on the date as the Boeing strike has delayed delivery of the 777's so I suspect the published date for the 777 to start AKL-SIN (and also AKL-SFO which will be the first route for 777) will push back a bit.

So these flights are sold entirely as economy still, with some people being seated in business?

Thanks for that ntddevsys. The reason I ask is that I am flying on NZ90 CHC-AKL only in 3 weeks time, and will be *G by then. Is there any chance I will get a seat up the front?

Having recently flown AKL-WLG, I wish NZ would bring back a BC cabin for its 737 routes.
Their is something about coming out of an F seat right into a sandwich with your knees pressed into the seat back in front of you, that is very unappealing.
Given the "new wealth" I see in NZ these days and the ever increasing amount of well heeled tourists and business travellers, I am sure their must be a market for BC.

It's called 2A on the Beech ;)

I was just in TUO for 5 days visiting my family, damn it was cold, a strong south easterly.
