Hertz - Toyota Solara
Hi Everyone,
A friend of mine just got back from DEN and he reserved a Compact and he got a Toyota Solara.
What trim level does Hertz have in that car? and what class are they?
Thanks
Ryan

I believe the Solara is a Q.
Arent the Q's Convertables? It was just the 2 door. Also what trim level and what equipment do they have on them?

Class U is convertable.
Solara's are available at Hertz in both Coupe and Convertable spec.
There was a Solara Coupe at ALB and it had a cloth interior. Other then that, I don't know.

i've been given two solaras -- one convertible, one coupe -- at various hertz locations. i don't know what the trim level was, but if there's one where attempting to push the pedal through the floor still doesn't get a good response, that's the one i had.
i'd rather get a buick century, and that's saying something!

The Solara I received on one occasion was a convertible, and in Q class IIRC.
AFAIK, convertibles are class U. The Solara convertible I got last month was a YU. More details in my ride report (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=474740) .

I just got a Toyota Solara at IAD. It had 6663 miles on it. It was a blue SE with the 2.4 liter 4-cylinder and 5 speed automatic.
With a mix of city and highway, I think I averaged around 27-28MPG. I think the engine is powerful enough for those who aren't too demanding. I think to hustle it along would require a lead foot and a drop in gas mileage. Like most Toyotas, the ride is great, but the steering is a bit light and detached. The car was quiet on the highway and the interior is nicely designed and styled.
However, the Solara's exterios is plain UGLY! Pontiac Sunfire meets Lexus SC430. Blech!

Once at BDL I asked about a Solara I saw while returning a car. The agent said if I rented a D class and talk to the gold desk, they'd put me in it.

I had a Solara coupe a few months back; I believe it was a YD. I was overall pretty unimpressed with the car. The power was mediocre and the interior standard Toyota. I don't recall the trim level on the car, but there weren't any extra bells and whistles.
Class Q is the compact 4WD; I just had a Q4 Hyundai Santa Fe AWD in CLE.

I've had Hertz upgrade me to Solara's several times and I'm not particularly impressed either...the convertible is claustrophobic and the doors on both the coupe and convertible weigh about 1000 pounds.

My rental agreement said YD for the Solara.

I own a Celica so speaking as a Toyota owner on my weeks rental of a Solara at MCO:
PRO's
Neat Styling, Well finished, totally reliable, adequate power, decent mileage, Very quiet, big boot, smooth, nice autobox
CON's
Uses a lot of proprietry Toyota parts
could use more power
not at all sporty
CONCLUSION
YAWN - what a decent but oh so BORING car

You just summed up 95% of Honda and Toyota line....
Reliable but incredibly boring cars...They have exceptions; like the S2000 but the rest of the line-up is blaaaand

Had a Solara conv last week in San Diego, BAD blind spots due to the size of the C-pillar area canvas. I couldn't wait to get rid of it, also low power, and heavy doors.
