Air NZ to start direct flights to Adelaide

Air New Zealand will start direct flights between Auckland and Adelaide from March next year.

Air NZ will operate three direct flights a week between the centres -- flying on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The airline is the first international carrier to commit to the Adelaide airport's new $260 million terminal, which will officially open this Friday.

Air New Zealand will use its new Airbus A320 on the route.

Shares in Air NZ were unchanged at $1.14 this afternoon, having traded between $1.13 and $1.72 over the past 12 months.

763s will operate some AKL-ADL-AKL services over the next few months.

763s (in lieu of A320) will operate services on Tuesday 06 and 13 MAR and every Sunday between 25 MAR and 29 APR (inclusive). This of course is subject to change!

I would imagine this is due to heavy loads (Good to see!).

Cheers

Thanks for the news QF NB. Doesn't make my routing decision any easier.

Any idea whether this situation will continue?

We may be treating a friend to a trip ADL-AKL-CHC with some miles later in the year (probably late September or October). I had foolishly hoped that this might be a 777 route, 767 at worst. But making the 5 hour ADL-AKL trip on a 320 really doesn't help demonstrate the NZ service

ADL-AKL is not 5 hours, is about 4.

If getting longhaul product is that important then fly from MEL or SYD instead of ADL.
