Independence Air iClub - Independence Air to cut 600 jobs

Independence Air will lay off 600 workers in the coming weeks as part of recent cost-cutting measures taken by the Dulles airline.

Most of Independence Air's layoffs will be at its Dulles headquarters, says company spokesman Rick DeLisi. The startup low-cost airline, which debuted in June 2004, also announced this week that it would eliminate West Coast service by Dec. 1 and cut the number of flights it operates at Dulles from 350 to 230 after Oct. 31.

How great is their HQ staff? I'm guessing the ground staff in places like CLE are also going to be let go. As for the others, are their flight crews all based in IAD? I guess its time to scramble to get A320 certified...

It's a shame and I don't know how they can survive thru the end of the year.
