Independence Air cuts Charlotte flights
Down to 3 flights a day in November

Independence Air, the low-fare airline that arrived in Charlotte a year ago to great fanfare, is sharply cutting back the number of flights to its Washington hub.

In November, the airline will offer just three flights from Charlotte, down from the eight it offered this summer. In addition, the airline is ending its flights between the West Coast and its Washington hub, as it attempts to survive amid high fuel prices.

Got to hand it to them that they continue to make changes while the airline struggles to survive.

from other postings here and on other sites....CLT was claimed to have been on of their better cities due to the nature of O/D business travel. Isnt it currently all Airbus service?

IF that is true then this news doesnt seem to bode to well since CLT isnt that big of a tourist market (which would explain a seasonal schedule adjustment)...so the business must not be that good.

A big drop in seats...even with a mix of RJ's figured in.

CLT was never an all Airbus market. CLT has always been a strong market for us, but even strong markets are taking hits with the latest cuts. Almost every city that we serve is loosing flights.

DH,

even though I work for UAL I do feel for the employees of Indy.....I dont wish to see any airline employee lose their jobs. You, and us at UAL, are the unlucky recipients of some bad management idea/moves.

I have always wondered if this wasnt truly the plan of FlyI, to get down to minimal RJ's and some Airbii. But they never would have gotten the employees to go along from Day 1 if half of them knew they were getting laid off anyways. You had all these planes and employees so you had to fly them somewhere (hence the multiple freqs to places that seemed suspect)

Wish you the best.
