American Express Membership Rewards - Black Card - can I change my mind?

I was offered the black card about 18 months ago but pitched it in the trash. Anyone know if the invite is standing or a one time only offer, and who I could call to determine if I could go for it?

Give them a call and ask. I have a colleague who did the same thing and he called and got it. Don't know the time between the offer and when he called though but it's definitely worth a try.

Call the number on the back of your card, ask for Centurion, they will transfer you.

If you were ever invited, they should have a record of it on your account. Further action should be negotiable -- just tell them you never realized how much of a benefit having that card would be until now, and would like a second chance at getting one.

Let us know what happens. Spend requirements increased in last 18 months from $150,000 to $250,000 to get an invite. Also invite was based on previous 12 month spend. Whether they will just honor old invite or look to see if you qualify under current rules is anyone's guess. If you do qualify, no invite is needed, just call and ask to join.

I knew that I qualified and just called Plat Customer Service and asked if I qualified for Centurion. They said yes and a week later I had the welcome packet.

The spending requirements for the black card, is that for all your purchases with American Express in the past 12 months, or just on one particular card? (I have 4 different flavors of amex, and mix spending between them.)

All personal cards (including branded cards like Delta and Starwood) will be combined. If you have multiple AMEX business cards their spending will be combined. If you have a mix of personal and business (cards with business in their name, not just personal cards used for business) I am not sure what they do.
