FYI, this is a Sprint long distance deal whereby you will get 40,000 miles after 18 months. 7 cents/min with a $3.95 monthly charge. I would appreciate comments on how best to make sure Sprint complies with this offer [Not that I should not sign up for it, as I intend to do so]. There is nothing comparable on the horizon from the others, and I have been shorted by MCI already! So, what are the best techniques/tricks to make sure that they comply and that I have proof of same. Also, who does one threaten to complain to if they do not comply. Thanx! chix Aug 30, 01, 7:06 am Here's the NW forum link: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum35/HTML/001981.html lisamcgu Aug 30, 01, 2:41 pm Be very, very careful with Sprint. I signed up and was rewarded with a type of Frequent Flyer Fee. It was a percentage of the miles they were "giving" me, turned into dollars! Along with this, there were a couple more hidden, out-there fees that were expensive and just outrageous. This just happened a couple months ago, so I am sure their tactics are up to date and haven't changed. I got rid of them that first month, switching back to MCI. In doing so, I did receive the 5,000 for the first month miles toward my NW acct (but I had to pay for it) and, by switching and re-starting with MCI, I got 1000 mi and added another partner, toward 20 partners, to my AA acct. Just be sure to ask about all other fees and charges. Good luck! If I recall correctly, when I used MCI I got taxed on the United miles I collected. This even continued on for a few months after I canceled their service because the miles were posting slower than the bills. Sprint passes THEIR tax on to you, even though it's just another cost of thier acquiring the miles. pshuang Aug 31, 01, 11:19 pm Looking over my Sprint statements over the last 12 months, it appears that the excise tax which Sprint passes on to the consumer (and recipient of the miles) works out to about 0.1 cents per mile. At that rate, I'd be thrilled to have to $1,000 worth of frequent flier mile excise taxes passed on to me by Sprint. VinceLee Aug 31, 01, 11:37 pm I haven't had any problem getting Sprint miles. Got 15000 miles a year ago on long distance plus 5000 miles bonus for using Sprint PCS. I still get Sprint PCS miles every month. I will definitely sign up this Sprint 40,000 miles deal! Sprint is very generous about miles. magic miler Sep 1, 01, 2:08 pm I have to agree wih Vince Lee--I have been very happy (as happy as you can be with a ld carrier--they are all meant to confuse you) with Sprint. They have credited miles as they were supposed to and have not changed my service midstream as Verizon does.
