America West FlightFund (Pre-2005 US Airways merger) - Using Miles to upgrade on a paid coach ticket PHX-HNL

Looking at Honolulu as a possible honeymoon getaway come January 3rd. I see HP will have it's non stop going. Can I use miles to upgrade from my coach ticket to confirm in F? If so, how many miles to do so? Can I do this at the time of booking? I'm also assuming that elites won't be privvy to *complimentary, space available ugrades* correct?

Do other airlines that have comp upgrades for elites also not do this (e.g., NW, AA, US, DL).

I wonder if the 752 F service on these flights will differentiate themselves at all from let's say a PHX-MSP flight. More chix caesar and tortellini? :confused:

To confirm in advance it takes 30K round-trip to upgrade an elite member, 40K for a non-elite.

Elite upgrades cost $200 each way for elite member. Elite can also upgrade another person in the same PNR. Timing is 3 days, 2 days, 1 day, just like the comp upgrades.

I'm not aware of any airline that does comp upgrades to Hawaii.
