Really surpised tha tfor a 7 hours trip, which is very similar to an 8 hours trip on transatlantic, the conditions (at least on Delta) are very poor.
I travelled first class on a reward ticket, and
- we got not travel kit (socks,..)
- the seats are nearly betetr than coach, but by no way you can sleep. The pitch is just a little bigger than in coach. No more.
- food is a little better, but not so much

However the destination is very popular, at lteast at this time of the year, and the planes are full.

Any ideas concerning this huge difference

us domestic first is as you described it on most airlines. sometimes , you may get a deck of cards if you ask.international is better ,but not always great.
