Hertz - 5* earned free day cert - does Hertz track usage?

Just wondering. Whenever I use one they never collect the actual coupon from me. I don't get that many, so if I use one over will that attract any attention or trouble from Hertz?

There's no way they can keep tabs on you with regard to certs earned/certs "redeemed"... first of all, the certs are not uniquely identifiable nor expressly non-transferable, so you could easily be in legitimate possession of more certs than you have earned.

Secondly, even if they inquired about the affected rentals retroactively, they would have a tough time proving that the absence of a cert during audit means no cert was provided. There's too much room for internal error/fraud to make that argument.

Bottom line - if I get a cert-discounted reciept after dropoff and leave the lot, Hertz is going would have an uphill battle trying to justify docking me after the fact. If they don't have their cert collection procedures in order, that's not my problem.

I would relax but don't count on getting a free ride every time. If I book using the earned day cert code, I always have a cert ready to go. Any other outcome is gravy.
