Travel Technology - Got Tivo? Get This!

I've been playing with Galleon for some time now, and it is now stable enough that I think everyone should consider installing it.

It was the winner of the TiVo application development competition this year, and really is amazing application. It makes TiVo even better than it was, something I did not thing was possible.

the pc-to-tivo feature is something I've been looking for, thanks for posting this. I'm probably going to put together my own DVR eventually, but for now I'm still with tivo, so I'll check it out

Actually; PC to Tivo has been possible for some time now.

All you do is put the video files (encoded in the correct format) in the "my tivo recordings" directory, and the tivo desktop will copy them back onto tivo for you.

I only wish Tivo's transfers were faster, that way I wouldn't have to wait 1:1 to move stuff.

huh - I had no idea! I've had tivo for several months now, and remember looking at tivo message boards for a way to do this, and it seemed likt it wasn't possible yet (at least without a hack). thanks for the tip, I'll try it out

I have two TIVO's networked with two different computers and I'm always moving stuff back and forth. Works great! Check to make sure you have the current software versions (the desktop is 2.2, and TIVO is version 7.2)..maybe that's why you're not seeing it.

What you are seeing is the multi-room option (I think). What I am referring to, is the capability to make your own content (from a DVD for example) and move this from the PC to the Tivo. This is content that never was on Tivo in the first place, not old tivotogo content or multiroom content.

Ok, now I'm clear. I remember reading about that over on the TIVO board, but likely something I wouldn't do (it's a miracle I have the network working just to move the TV content back and forth).
