US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-2005 America West merger) - Cancelling infant ticket: refunds?

Unfortunately, my wife and I had to cancel our recent trip to Europe. We had purchased an infant ticket for my sun (not a seat, just a lap ticket). I cancelled his ticket, and understand that I now have a credit that is good for one year for the cost of the ticket, minus the change fee. (The change fee on infant tickets, BTW, is 10% of the adult change fee, since the ticket itself is 10% of the adult fare. In this case, the change fee came out to $20.)

I'm fine with that. However, when I purchased the ticket a "fuel surcharge" was added on. It seems that the surcharge should be refunded, since it is not part of the ticket price (hence the term "surcharge"). Has anyone had any success getting a refund on the fuel surcharge? I'm probably just wasting my time, but it's something like $45 out of a $200 ticket, so it's not insignificant.

Thankfully, our adult tickets were DM tickets, so I only have to pay the $50 redeposit fee for ours.
